Music

The Music Department at La Sierra is one of the strongest in the country today. Some of the finest musicians in the Seventh-day Adventist church teach at La Sierra University. Most of the full-time faculty have doctorates; all of them have extensive performance and teaching experience. The Department of Music offers a Bachelor of Music degree with two areas of concentration, performance and music education, and a Bachelor of Arts degree in music. A minor in music is also available.

Research

La Sierra University has a great commitment to research in all academic disciplines. Research is integrated in to the curriculum and there are plenty of opportunities for outside research with the University's top faculty. Faculty members at La Sierra have been international recognized for their scholarship in their major field.

Character Building Colleges

La Sierra University has been recognized for leadership in the field of student character development in The Templeton Guide: Colleges that Encourage Character Development, a guidebook released nationwide. Designed for students, parents, and educators who believe that character matters, The Templeton Guide contains profiles of 405 exemplary college programs in ten categories: 50 college presidents who have exercised leadership in character development; and 100 colleges and universities named to the Templeton Honor Roll for their record of commitment to inspiring student to lead ethical and civic-minded lives.
