Web Site Space Usage
Departments, schools, University organizations, and Centers may place
relevant informational and service-related documents, files, and
media files on the web site, under their site directory (http://www.lasierra.edu/departments/dept_name)
as necessary. There is not generally a quota set for these web
sites, but abuse of the available resources will not be tolerated.
Please police yourself, and your charges to ensure that resources
are used appropriately.
If you maintain a departmental web site, whether it be your own, or someone
else's, you may ONLY upload files and media specifically relevant
to that site and its users. Various file formats that MUST not EVER
be uploaded (for long-term storage or transfer) are:
- PSD (Photoshop files)
- ZIP files (if being placed there for storage purposes only)
- Any other files that are being place online for storage and not for public use.
If you are wanting to upload media files such as MPG, AVI, MP3, WAV, AIFF,
etc., please first contact the office of the Webmaster before uploading
any of these types of files. THIS IS IMPERATIVE.
If you need help converting Word or Excel files into PDF format, please
contact the office of the Webmaster, or purchase a copy of Adobe
Acrobat Professional through our Software Support department.
Logo (nameplate) Placement
The La Sierra University nameplate (logo) MUST appear on the top of ALL departmental web pages. Preferably, the logo must be placed in the top left corner, as the first item viewable by users; however, departmental sites may alternatively place the logo at the top on the right side of the pages.
The logo must appear on ALL pages of departmental sites, at the top of the page.
The logo must be clearly visible, viewable, and must not be obfuscated in any way by other logos, images, or text. The logo may be changed in color to fit the design of the site, but rendering the logo in gaudy colors such as hot pink, aqua, etc. is discouraged.
You may obtain a copy of the logo by contacting the Office of Public Relations.
Personal web site content
Faculty, staff and current students are all allowed to have personal web
sites on the La Sierra University network.
Faculty and staff wishing to have either personal or academic-oriented web sites should visit this page for further details.
Club web pages
Clubs that have been approved by Student Life/Student Activities may obtain, free of charge, a web space on http://salsu.lasierra.edu/clubs/. The club advisor or sponsor must contact the Webmaster's office, via EMAIL (a telephone call will NOT do), and let us know who will need access to the website.
Club web pages MUST have a link back to the La Sierra University website at http://www.lasierra.edu.
