English & Communication's Outstanding Senior of the Year: Courtney Young
Courtney is active in the department and around campus; she enthusiastically participates in Student life, spiritual life, drama productions and as a sophomore mentor for English majors. She has always done well academically, and consistently maintains a positive aura about her. Accomplished in public speaking skills, she represented La Sierra’s Speech and Debate team at the National Christian College Forensics Association Invitational in Tennessee this year, where twenty-six colleges and universities were represented from all over the nation. Courtney won a first place award in Novice Dramatic Duo and a fifth place award in the Novice Faith Literature competition.
Her advisor notes that she earned an A in every English class. She has decided to go on a missions trip and teach for a year. Courtney is a leader, her skills are developing as a writer, and we look forward to following her journey as she leaves La Sierra, decides on graduate school and pursues the many opportunities that await her.
Congratulations Courtney! We are proud of you.
