| Worship
is an integral part of who we are at La Sierra University.
This is a special time when we can set aside studies
and work to reflect on our Creator and Savior and how
He impacts our personal lives. Evening worships are
provided in the residence halls. As another option,
small worship groups have been thoughtfully planned
during the week with faculty and staff mentors.
Policy:
Attend as many worships as you can each week.
In other words, one worship is required per week.
Beyond this requirement, you are welcome to go to
as many as you wish. At the end of each quarter you
are to have attended at least 10 worships. (This does
not include chapels or assemblies).
Question: If I miss worships
one week may I make it up the next week?
Answer: Try not to miss,
but if it is unavoidable you may make arrangements
with your Dean. Be proactive and make your arrangements
before hand.
Question: May I attend all
my worships at the beginning of the quarter?
Answer: The goal is to be
consistent in our worship habits with worships being
attended each week, so the answer is no.
Question: What if all worships
come during my work hours?
Answer: With small groups
worships happening each week during the day, early
morning worships in the residence halls, and regular
Monday and Wednesday worships, a convenient time should
be available to all.
Question: What happens
if I have not attended enough worships for the quarter?
Answer: Our hope is that
you will not let this happen. However, if it has,
at the end of the quarter you will be placed on Residence
Hall Probation. This probation is a strong warning
to you that you must attend worships. If your attendance
for the following quarter is within policy you will
be removed from residence hall Probation. If you continue
to miss, you will be placed on Citizenship Probation
through the Vice President for Student Life's office.
This goes in your permanent University file.
Question: Does everyone
who lives in the residence hall have to go to worship?
Answer: Everyone is to attend
except graduate students and those over 22, but we
welcome them also.

SMALL WORSHIP GROUP GUIDELINES
Our goal is for La Sierra University to be a redemptive
community, fostering the spiritual growth of all students,
faculty, staff and administration.
A variety of worship options are available on campus
of which the small worship group is one. In small
groups, where people come to understand and support
each other, it is more difficult to become discouraged
and drop out without being noticed by someone who
cares. Small groups, by their very nature, foster
more opportunity for spiritual learning and stimulating
interactions.
Below you will find the guidelines appropriate for
small group worship. This worships can include all
LSU students--commuters and residence hall students
alike.
This petition should be submitted before the quarter
begins or up to the last day to register for classes
at the beginning of a quarter. The groups can be co-ed
with 3 or more individuals:
- With a maximum of 10-12. If the group grows beyond
12, you are encouraged to split and keep growing.
If the group attendance falls below 3 on 2 consecutive
weeks, the group is automatically dissolved.
- A faculty, staff, or administrator is to mentor
each group.
- The group should meet each week for a minimum
of 30 minutes.
- Place is to be determined by the group.
- Each group will have a student leader(s) who
will, among other duties, take record by individual's
signatures and turn this list in after each meeting
to your residential Dean.
Two basic types of groups will be available to
fit the personal needs of all those participating.
Choose one.
Relational Bible Study Groups
- To study the Bible in ways that help us apply
it to our personal lives.
- To support one another in prayer.
- To share with and trust others in ways that are
supportive.
- Gain skills that enable us to talk comfortably
with unbelievers about our experiences in Christ.
Discussion Group
- Discussion of religious topics of interest chosen
by the group and it's mentor, such as intellectual
inquiry into a current religious question.
- Discussion and study of the Bible, such as chapter
by chapter study, or study of a verse of special
interest.
