Passports Now Required for US Citizens
The U.S. Department of State and the Bureau of Customs and Border Protection published a final rule to implement Phase One of the Western Hemisphere Travel Initiative (WHTI). The rule, effective January 23, 2007, will require valid passports of all U.S. citizens as well as all nonimmigrant aliens with citizenship in Canada, Bermuda, and Mexico, departing from or entering the United States from within the Western Hemisphere at air ports-of-entry. A separate, future rulemaking will address land and sea travelers. Read more. |

Insurance Charges to remain the same.
The OISS has successfully renewed the medical insurance plan with HTH Worldwide for 2007 and we were able to retain the same premium as last year: $255/quarter. Our staff will be renewing your cards throughout the break and you will be able to print your new insurance cards starting January 2, 2007. If you have any questions regarding the insurance plan, please do not hesitate to contact us. To read the prospectus of the current insurance plan, visit the Health Services web site. |
Summer Work Opportunity for International Students
If you need help paying your tuition, need a part-time job or extra spending money, consider joining the LSU Magabook program. Not only is it the highest paying job for a student here at LSU, but all your commission earnings will be matched 100% if you choose to put it on your school bill. Last year the lowest paid student made no less than $13 and hour. And the highest student made about $32 an hour! On average, students earned about $22-25 an hour.
This is not only a fantastic financial opportunity for you, but consider the following.
Joining the Magabook team is a great way to grow personally and professionally. It draws you closer to God, as you will be sharing Christian books with the surrounding communities. It will increase your people skills, and teach you important sales techniques that may help you later on in your career.
The only requirements you need are conversational English and a willingness to work hard. We provide training, transportation, inventory, and safety radios.
