Happy Thanksgiving!
The Office of International Student Services would like to wish you a very Happy Thanksgiving! We are all thankful to have all of you as students here at LSU and for sharing your unique and diverse cultures with us. God Bless!
The OISS will have very limited hours starting December 18th, so please plan in advance to get all your paperwork BEFORE December 15th. This includes, I-20 signatures for travel, transfer requests (these are due by the 13th), change of programs, travel letters, I-20 extensions for ESL students, OPT applications (these are due by the 8th), and clearance of registration holds. The University will be closed campus-wide December 22 at noon through January 1, 2007. Offices will open again on Tuesday, January 2.

Students Completing Their Programs in December and who wish to apply for their Optional Practical Traning (OPT) should apply no later than Friday, December 8, 2006, to avoid any problems. Application packages are available outside our office. The current filing fee is still $180.
REINSTATEMENT procedures have changed. Starting November 1, 2006, all reinstatements petitions will be filed with the USCIS District Office and forwarded to the California Service Center for approval. This is a major change in procedures since now students seeking reinstatement will not be allowed to see an officer, but rather will have to file their application via mail.
