IMMIGRATION UPDATE

Welcome to La Sierra University!
Whether you're a new, transfer, or a returning international student, welcome to La Sierra University! We are happy to have you here, and we're eager to start a brand new school year full of activities and fun!

The Office of International Student Services (OISS) would like to remind you that we are here for YOU! If you:

   • need help registering for class,
   • need a ride to the store,
   • have a problem with don't know how to fix it,
   • want to hang out or talk to someone,

come talk to us. We are here to help you!

New and Transfer International Student Orientation - Required!
If you are a new or transfer international student for Fall 2003, you are required to attend the New and Transfer International Student Orientation this coming Thursday, September 25 at 5pm in the Cactus Room in the Dinning Commons. Free Phone Cards and Door Prizes will be given to attending students. The New and Trasnfer International Student Orientation Handbook will also be given to all attending students!

New SEVIS I-20s
Some of you still have not picked up your new SEVIS I-20's. Don't forget that you must have had a new I-20 by August 1, 2003. If you still haven't picked up your SEVIS I-20, please do so as soon as possible. You must do it in person--you cannot send a friend to do it for you--and you need to have it no later than October 1, 2003. Otherwise, you'll be out-of-status.

This section will be published once the calendars arrive! You can pick up your free copy of the Student Calendar in the Office of Student Life after next week.

OISS UPDATE

Medical Insurance for Returning Students:
If you were registered at LSU Spring Quarter 2003, on July 1, 2003, the OISS renewed your insurance contract. You will need to go on-line to HTH Students.com to print your new insurance cards. If you need assistance printing your insurance card, please contact OISS. REMEMBER: you never know when you will need to go to the hospital, so print your insurance card ASAP!

Medical Insurance for New & Transfer Students
When you came to the OISS to do your orientation, we purchased your medical insurance. You will need to log in to HTH Students.com to print your new insurance cards. However, before you do so, you will need your certificate number. Please contact OISS to obtain your Certificate number. REMEMBER: you never know when you will need to go to the hospital, so print your insurance cards ASAP and carry them with you at all times!

LAST MINUTE

Last day to register is Monday, September 29!
Remember that if you're an international undergraduate student you must take at least 12 units each quarter. If you are an international graduate student, you must take at least 8 units. Monday September 29 is the last day to add a class.
