President

  • Chair senior officers’ meetings.
  • Arrange for senior officers’ presentation at University Worship or assembly.
  • Coordinate Consecration program on Friday night of graduation weekend.
  • Give a short speech during Commencement program on Sunday of graduation weekend; speech will include announcement of class gift.
  • Maintain regular contact with officers on status of projects, intervene as necessary.
  • Keep class sponsors informed of activities, results of meetings (if sponsors absent).
  • Assist treasurer and vice president on fundraising for class gift.  This includes mailings to class members, families, faculty, area businesses, etc.
  • Figurehead appearances at official university events, ex officio member of alumni board
  • Assist officers with activities as needed, including attendance at events.

Vice president

  • Stand in for president when absent, including appearances at various university events.
  • Work with treasurer and president on class gift. This includes mailings to class members, families, faculty, area businesses; work with campus architect for class gift ideas.
  • Assist religious vice president with planning and executing Senior Chapel in June.
  • Assist president with planning Consecration program.
  • Assist officers with activities as needed, including attendance at events.

Secretary

  • Take notes, keep record of officers’ meetings.
  • Email minutes of meetings to officers, sponsors.
  • Call, email, meeting reminders to officers, sponsors.
  • Assist president with any mailings, correspondence.
  • Put notices in Eagle’s Cry (or other outlets) for seniors desiring minutes to contact secretary.
  • Assist PR officer with promotions, flyers.
  • Assist other officers with activities as needed, including attendance at events.

Treasurer

  • Investigate options with vice president for class gift.
  • Coordinate fundraising activities, such as Festival of Nations booth, etc.
  • Work with president on fundraising letters to key groups (parents, class members, faculty, etc.).
  • Maintain, monitor, the class account at university accounting office.
  • Regularly report class finances at officers’ meetings.
  • Assist officers with activities as needed, including attendance at events.

Religious vice president

  • Coordinate one spiritual activity per quarter (such as faculty home vespers, beach vespers, feed homeless). Plan dates early in school year, work with PR to advertise.
  • Get activity petitions signed, turned in to OSA at least two weeks prior to event.
  • Coordinate Senior Worship during Spring Quarter, in conjunction with Campus Ministries.
  • Get events on school calendars published in the Criterion, web site, etc.
  • Assist officers with activities as needed, including attending events.

Social vice president

  • Coordinate at least one social activity per quarter (such as faculty home party, pancake breakfast, class banquet).  May coordinate events with religious vice president.
  • Get activity petitions signed, turned in to OSA at least two weeks prior to event.
  • Get events on school calendars published in the Criterion, web site, etc.
  • Assist officers with activities as needed, including attending events.

Class Historian/PR

  • Work with student newspaper for coverage of senior class officer election, events & features.
  • Photograph all senior activities and other school events for end-of-year show and/or alumni files.  If unable to attend activities, find another photographer to cover event.
  • Create, post flyers for official senior events.  Flyers must be approved/stamped in OSA.
  • Prepare senior email list (suppress recipient list!), send messages as needed.  (Computer dept. will assist.)
  • Work with webmaster to update/create senior site.
  • Assist officers with activities as needed, including attending events.

Senator

  • Attend scheduled SALSU Senate meetings as senior class representative.
  • Attend senior officers meetings to report pertinent information and guidelines.
  • Work with treasurer on class gift to get SALSU matching funds.
  • Assist officers with activities as needed, including attending events..

Class Sponsors

  • Attend officers meetings, offer advice/counsel as needed/requested.
  • Attend class activities.
  • Guide officers in contacting various departments on campus (i.e., physical plant to discuss possible gift ideas, etc.).
  • Assist with planning senior assemblies.
