Religious
Studies
The
School of Religion is committed to providing general religious studies
for all students in every part of the University. Based upon the central
Christian belief in one God, Creator of the world and Redeemer of mankind,
these studies explore the Bible as the inspired Word of God, provide instruction
in Christian faith, examine the history and mission of the church, and
offer guidance for the Christian life.
Undergraduate
Program
In
addition, we also contribute to undergraduate training toward the ministry,
to seminary and graduate study. The School's pre-ministry curriculum,
taken in conjunction with another major of the student's choice, lays
a foundation for further professional or academic preparation at the graduate
level. The School also offers the Bachelor of Arts in Religious Studies,
which complements the pre-ministry curriculum, or which by itself comprises
an ideal pre-professional preparation for a career in the legal, medical
or health-related professions.
Graduate
Programs
The
School of Religion offers one graduate academic program and two graduate
professional programs. The former is designed to engage students in advanced
academic studies in the field of religion beyond the baccalaureate level
and to provide a step towards doctoral level study. The latter are intended
to prepare students for the professional practice of some aspect of the
Christian ministry. Click here for

Centers
The School
of Religion supports the University, the church, its institutions, and
the discipline with research and publication, continuing education programs,
lecture series, conferences, and workshops. This is done by employing
resources available from the respective departments, the Stahl Center
for World Service, and the John
Hancock Center for Youth Ministry.
Continuing
Education
The School
of Religion offers continuing education classes in various parts of the
Pacific Union Conference upon request of the local church or conference
and on some occasions at various academies in the Union. Workshops providing
practical and theological information are avai lable on request. Those
interested in this service of the School of Religion should contact the
dean's office for up-to-date information and current changes. Or you can
email Dean
John Webster or the School of Religion's administrative assistant, Suzy
Kaspereen.
