Description
The credential programs in School Administration and Leadership at La Sierra University will focus on the development of a Christian leader. You will take classes that recognize the concept that leadership training has three fundamental aspects: the development and understanding of the leader as a person, a deeper understanding of the community and organizational context of leadership, and thedevelopment of specific skills needed by a successful leader-manager.
This credential program in School Administration and Leadership at La Sierra University will focus on the development of a Christian leader at the entry level. You will take classes that will emphasize:
Important legal issues that favor school teachers and leaders today
How to understand and recognize good teaching that will help you to be a good mentor to new teachers
Looking at yourself as a leader and how to recognize aspects of yourself that will help you to be a good leader and role model
Financing schools and how to understand difficult issues relative to school funding today
Actual field experiences which will give you the opportunity to practice leadership tasks firsthand at a school site
and other fascinating topics . . .

Commission on Teacher Credentialing
La Sierra University's administrative credential programs are approved by the California Commission of Teacher Credentialing.
Combining your Credential program with a Degree program in Administration and Leadership
Individuals pursuing administrative credentials may incorporate credential requirements as a part of a degree program. All of the courses for the Preliminary Administrative Credential program will also apply to degree programs at La Sierra.
Admission
Admissions to the School of Education for graduate studies (MA or Tier 1) is determined by the Admissions Committee of the School based on the following factors:
Completion of a bachelor's degree at an accredited institution of higher learning.
Portfolio to include:
GRE general score
Letters of recommendation
Interview with advisor from department
Academic record with GPA of 3.0 or higher
Demonstration of satisfactory English language proficiency (for non-English language applicants)
Satisfactory interview with department advisor
