"Jerusalem Women Speak," a group of three women from Israel and Palestine, are coming to the Inland Empire to present a special lecture on the daily realities of living with decades of violence in the Israeli/Palestinian conflict. The lecture will be held at La Sierra University’s Hole Memorial Auditorium on November 14, at 10 pm.
The lecture by the three women -- Christian, Jew, and Muslim -- will give Inland Empire residents a rare glimpse into the lives of Israelis and Palestinians, who, though they each have suffered the death of loved ones through persecution and war, loss of their ancestral homes and discrimination, are working together to envision a new future.
Featured at the La Sierra University event are:
Ms. Wejdan Jaber, a Muslim Palestinian from Gaza and USAid "Clinton Scholar"
Ms. Abir Kopty, a Christian Palestinian citizen of Israel who was nominated as one of Israel's twelve "People of the Year" in 2005.
Ms. Hagit Ra'anan, whose husband was killed in the 1982 war with Lebanon is a Jewish Israeli.
They will speak about ongoing efforts to address problems built on sixty years of conflict.
The presentation will be held at Hole Memorial Auditorium. This event is co-sponsored by the La Sierra University Student Association and Adventist Women for Peace. Contact Professor Lourdes Morales at 951-785-2257 or 951-785-2120 for more information.
