This fall Norman Yergen, M.Div., accepted the position of assistant vice president for advancement at La Sierra University.
Yergen comes to La Sierra University from Columbia Union College where he served as the vice president of advancement. He has served as the general secretary of the Alberta Conference of Seventh-day Adventists, a senior pastor at Beltsville Seventh-day Adventist Church, and pastor of the Anchorage Seventh-day Adventist Church.
“I have been impressed by the vision of the university to be involved in the community,” says Yergen. “Partnering alongside the community provides such a great opportunity for witness to what the Adventist church has to offer people. La Sierra University seems to do this particularly well.
“Norman's experience and fresh ideas in fundraising are already making a difference in helping the university achieves its $35 million dollar capital campaign goal,” says Jeff Kaatz, DMA, La Sierra University vice president for advancement and university relations.
Yergen lists his three goals as “tell the story of La Sierra to alumni and friends, help people give back in gratitude for the difference LSU made for them, and support the advancement team in whatever way I can.”
He earned his bachelors from Walla Walla College in Theology and History and masters of divinity from the Andrews University Seminary.
Yergen says he enjoys great food, travel to new places and being with friends.
