Riverside, CA - Business partners Victor Tolan and Kazuhiko Tokiwa have
formally committed a gift of $1,000,000 to the Time to Build capital
campaign at La Sierra University. In recognition of the gift, the Mathematics
and Computer Science Pavilion of the Thaine B. Price Pavilion will be
named the Tolan-Tokiwa Mathematics and Computer Science Pavilion. Tolan
and Tokiwa delivered the first installment of their pledge to Lawrence
T. Geraty, La Sierra University president, during the school’s
annual Academic Convocation, held October 4.
“With the magnificent gift provided by Mr. Victor Tolan of Yorba Linda
and his partner, Mr. Kazuhiko Tokiwa of Tokyo, we are now able to name the remaining
wing of the new Thaine Price Science Complex: the Tolan-Tokiwa Math and
Computing Science Pavilion,” says Lawrence T. Geraty, president of La Sierra
University. “Because this will be the location of the main campus computer
lab, it will serve virtually all of LSU's student body. How exciting to
begin this new school year with this gift in place. We are most grateful
to the
donors for their interest in La Sierra University.”
Tolan owns a business headquartered in Yorba Linda, California named
B+K Precision www.bkprecision.com.
The company specializes in the design and manufacture of high quality,
cost-effective test and measurement products. B+K Precision was found
in 1951 in Chicago and today has expanded internationally with offices
in Romania, California, Taiwan and France. Tolan’s business partner from Japan is Kazuhiko Tokiwa.
With an engineering degree from Romania, Tolan first worked for ITT
in the United States, then eventually started his own electronic testing
company, finally buying B+K Precision in Chicago. He moved the company
headquarters to Yorba Linda when he closed down their manufacturing operation
in Chicago and moved it to China.
Tolan is married to Alina Tolan, who is an LSU alum and has a doctorate
in Pharmacology. They
have two children, Bianca and Andrew.
