La Sierra University students are invited to take part in a major archaeological dig this summer. The Madaba Plains Project, a campaign based out of Andrews University that excavates ancient sites in Jordan, is currently unearthing a Bronze and Iron Age site at Tall al-‘Umayri in central region of the kingdom. The project is looking for student workers to help with the excavation for the summer 2006 digging season.

Academic credit is available in history, anthropology, and religion. Dig fees are $1745 for the full six-week dig season, running from June 28 through August 9, or $1145 for a three-week half season, running from June 28 through July 19 or July 19 through August 9.

The first deadline for application is March 1, 2006. For more information on the Madaba Plains Project, visit www.wwc.edu/mpp
