Riverside, CA - Brandstater Gallery at La Sierra University has partnered with the Riverside Art Museum to bring Rendering Riverside to campus through October 11, 2004.

Rendering Riverside’s total exhibit is split between the two locations. The same group of artists exhibited at Brandstater Gallery is also on exhibit at the Riverside Art Museum. Brandstater Gallery’s show runs through October 11, 2004. The Riverside Art Museum’s show runs through October 16, 2004. On October 11, 2004 at 6:30pm, there will be a closing reception and an artist panel at Brandstater Gallery. The artist panel, moderated by Daniel Foster, will include Jim Brown, Chick Curtix, Michael Elderman, Sam Huang, and Joanna Mersereau.

Rendering Riverside does not focus only on one type of media or on one specific artist. Many well-known local artists (Sam Huang, Don O’Neill, Martin Tobias, Chick Curtis, Michael Elderman, and Joanna Mersereau – to name a few) are exhibiting their work. Foster sought out local artists and contacted them to be a part of this exhibition. E. Anne Alfred, Riverside Art Museum Associate Curator, is the curator of the exhibit. Foster says the “artists selected in this exhibition are all well-deserving and highly acclaimed for their talent and local perspective / knowledge.”

Throughout the exhibit are several renderings of well-known Riverside landmarks: Fairmont Park, the Mission Inn, Mt Rubidoux, the Court House, Fox Theater; each is instantly recognizable and familiar. These images of Riverside are comforting in their stability. These are landmarks of Riverside; they have been a part of Riverside’s history and will continue to be a part of Riverside’s future. These landmarks are generally taken for granted by the people who live in and around Riverside. Hopefully this exhibit will spark an interest in discovering what Riverside has to offer.

Brandstater Gallery hours for the exhibit are Monday-Thursday 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Sunday from 2-5 p.m. For more information call 951-785-2959.
