Two La Sierra University music students will be featured as soloists
in this year’s performance of Handel’s Messiah at
the Crystal Cathedral in Garden Grove on December 19.
Amanda
Hall, La Sierra University senior vocal music performance major,
and Timothy Gonzales, La Sierra University junior vocal music performance
major, were chosen from among the famed Southern California church’s
regular chorus singers.
Hall,
a senior at La Sierra University, is a long time veteran of the
church’s professional choir. The soprano will be performing
the “Rejoice” aria
solo from the first section of the program.
Gonzales,
on the other hand, is new to the Crystal Cathedral. He’s
no stranger to vocal performance or the Messiah, however. “I’ve
been singing professionally for 8 years now, mostly opera,” said
the first-year La Sierra University junior, who will be singing
the opening tenor solos. This will be Gonzales’s 19th
performance of Handel’s masterpiece.
The
performance will be held in the Crystal Cathedral’s Arboretum
on Sunday, December 19 at 6 pm. Admission is free. To
