Who:  

La Sierra University Senior Biophysics major, Sid Dyer, works as a Accelerator Operator Intern at Loma Linda University Medical Center.

 

What:  

Dyer's job is to administer radiation in the form of protons to treat many forms of cancer.

 

Where:  

Dyer works at Loma Linda University Medical Center in Loma Linda, CA.

 

How:  

Last school year George Coutrakon, Ph.D., from Loma Linda University Medical Center, came to La Sierra University in the spring to give a presentation about the Proton Accelerator. He mentioned that they were looking for student interns and Dyer pursued and received the position

 

When:  

Dyer started working on the Proton Accelerator in June. He worked full-time in the summer months, and during the school year he works weekends

 

Quote:  

“The job is really fun. I am learning a lot. You are involved with so many intelligent people; it just rubs off on you. I really enjoy making a difference.”
