Fisher Riverside, CA – Kids 6-14 are invited to the La Sierra University School of Business and Management to experience the Fifth Student’s in Free Enterprise (SIFE) Summer SLAM (Students Launching Active Minds) 8:30 am to 4:00 pm, Aug. 4-8 on the campus of La Sierra University (4700 Pierce Street, Riverside). This weeklong “Space Biz” day camp, limited to the first 50 children, will introduce students to the business, technological, and science aspects of space exploration. Students will learn how to meet a market need, along with technology, financial management and ethical skills needed to run a business. At the end of the week, students will be rewarded with a field trip to the California Science Center. This trip will be a fun way for college students and children to come together and learn about business in the space world. “”Space Biz’ will help children learn in a fun way that the space exploration business can be real to them at their young age," says project director, Jessica Bearden, a graduate student in La Sierra University’s MBA program and member of the SIFE team. SIFE is an international organization started in 1975 by corporate America as a way to give college students hands-on experience in learning, practicing and teaching the principles of free enterprise. Currently, there are teams on more than 1,400 college campuses in 31 countries. The La Sierra University SIFE team has about 100 members and was started in 1991. Last year La Sierra SIFE was named the 2002 SIFE World Cup Champion in Amsterdam. SIFE teams create and implement projects in their local communities to help children and adults better understand free enterprise.
