Riverside, CA – December 4 La Sierra University (LSU) held
a Christmas Tree Lighting event along with a traditional Christmas
Carol Sing-Off to welcome the holiday season. Jennifer Tyner, LSU
Vice President for Student Life, lit the Christmas tree.
“This is the third year we have held the Carol Sing-Off.
We give a fancy trophy and have a campus music group perform,”
says Sue Curtis, Ed.S., LSU Dean of Students and Director of Residential
Life and coordinator of the Christmas Tree Lighting. “We had
about 150-200 people attend this year. The groups who compete in
the Carol Sing-Off are grass roots groups.”
The first place winner of the Carol Sing-Off was Sierra Towers.
They had a saxophone trio playing “Here Comes Santa Claus”
and three men on guitar who sang, “Grandma Got Run Over by
a Reindeer.”
The judges for the Carol Sing-Off are La Sierra University faculty
and staff: Ivy Tejeda, Sanjeev Marjee, and Kim Odle.
