Dr. and Mrs. Lawrence T. Geraty were struck by a hit and run driver while they were out enjoying their regular evening walk through their neighborhood last evening, April 23. Both were treated at a local hospital and released, and are now resting at home. Dr. Geraty suffered a broken right leg and assorted minor injuries in the incident. Mrs. Geraty is bruised and suffers from some residual soreness, but is otherwise okay. Both of them offer praise to the Lord for the protection He provided, and both are grateful that their injuries are not more severe. Dr. Geraty will continue to attend to his university duties as he is able, and no timetable has been established for his return to the office. While Dr. Geraty recovers at home, Dr. Ella Simmons, La Sierra University provost, will fill in for the president as necessary, supported by VP for Finance David Geriguis if she is unavailable. The entire campus administrative team will work together to ensure the campus runs smoothly during the president's recovery time. The entire La Sierra University family is encouraged to uphold the Geratys in prayer as they rest and recuperate. If you wish to send a note or card (no flowers please) to the Geratys expressing your prayer support and well wishes, please deliver them to the president's office here on campus, and they will be delivered to the Geratys on a regular basis.
