Riverside, Calif., Sept 11, 2001 -- La Sierra University wishes to express its sincerest sympathies to all persons whose lives were affected in any way by the tragedies of Tuesday, September 11, 2001. Due to the tragic terrorist developments throughout the United States today, many La Sierra University students may not be able to complete travel to La Sierra for this week's testing, orientation, and preparation for the new school year. The University will proceed as planned with scheduled events, but will be flexible in working with students and parents as they rearrange plans to come to La Sierra.
The Office of Student Life is prepared to take all incoming calls from concerned students and parents. Please forward any inquiries to them by calling locally, 909-785-2100 or nationally toll-free at 1-800-874-5587. The Offices of Recruitment and Student Life will be contacting via e-mail and telephone all international and national students whose travel plans may be affected, with information on accommodating their registration and testing needs. International students with questions or concerns may call directly to 909-785-2949. Students planning to move into residence halls, whose travel plans are interrupted, should contact Angwin Hall/Gladwyn Hall (women's residences) at 909-785-2166; or Sierra Towers (men's residence) at 909-785-2990. Student Life is compiling a list of all faculty, staff, and especially students who have recently returned safely from any air traffic/trips. Also, we would like to know of any faculty, staff or student who has postponed flying today (especially those student missionaries who were scheduled to fly today). If you know of such a situation, please call 909-785-2100. Nationwide, the need for blood donations is at a critical level. Contact your local American Red Cross office for donation locations (1-800 GIVE LIFE). Locally, the Bloodbank of San Bernardino & Riverside Counties (1-800-879-4484), is accepting donations around the clock.
La Sierra University is participating in a nationwide prayer chain at noon PST on September 11, and showing its solidarity in the Christian community by participating in a prayer vigil at nearby California Baptist University, 8 pm PST. Office of
