Sixty-seven minority seniors from La Sierra University and approximately 200 Loma Linda University students were honored at the eighth annual Minority Graduate Consecration Service, held at the Kansas Avenue Seventh-day Adventist Church in Riverside on May 12.

This program was developed in 1992 by Loma Linda University to celebrate the diversity in the two campuses and the students' individual accomplishments, and now "it has become a tradition," says Dr. Won Kil Yoon, Assistant to the President for Diversity at La Sierra University.

"La Sierra is blessed with a wonderful diverse mix of students, faculty, and staff," said Jennifer Tyner, VP for Student Life. "We all learn from each other's uniqueness, creating a wonderful campus climate."

This year's keynote speaker was Dr. David R. Williams, senior research scientist and professor of sociology at the University of Michigan.
