Audition Requirements for University Chamber Singers

• Sing (unaccompanied) one verse of a song such as “Amazing Grace” or similar. If you choose a similar song, please bring one copy of that selection with you.

• Sing a series of simple exercises with piano accompaniment. You will be given an explanation and example of each exercise. This is for vocal placement (the determination of your vocal range and tessitura).

• Match Pitches that you will hear played on the piano (aural skills).

• Sight Read approximately 4 - 6 measures of music. The first note will be played for you on the piano.

Auditions will consist of:

• Sight Reading
• If you would like to audition for the concert master position, please play marked part for Concert Master in the excerpts

1. Major & Minor Scales (natural and harmonic minor scales)
2. Sight reading
3. Prepared Piece
