Riverside, Calif., May, 2001-- In its May 8 awards assembly, La Sierra University College of Arts and Sciences recognized its outstanding seniors with plaques, certificates, monetary awards, and ovations.

Dr. Kimo Smith presents the Music Department Outstanding Senior Award to Joshua Tuburan.

Awards were presented by James W. Beach, Dean of the College of Arts and Sciences, and department chairs.

Outstanding seniors were:

Kar-Yee Yung, graphic design

Kathy Khoo, graphic design

Kristine Marson, biology

Jan-Holly Nicolas, chemistry

Jennifer Oliverio, English

Jennifer Penner, health science

Linda Tang, exercise science

Robert Peeke, history, politics and society

Joel Brauer, mathematics

Clark Bach, computer science

Joshua Tuburan, music

Antonia Ciovica, psychology

Aggie Jenkins, social work

Several departments within the College recognized their quality students:

Dr. Edna Maye Loveless accepts the Godfrey T. Anderson Award from Dr. James Beach, dean of the College of Arts and Sciences.

Two faculty members received recognition at the assembly: Neddie Yaeger, music office administrator/student liaison, was awarded Academic Advisor of the Year; and Edna Maye Loveless, PhD, professor of English, received the Godfrey T. Anderson Award.

On May 29, La Sierra University will present scholarships and financial rewards to many of its students. Approximately $200,000 is awarded each year based on academic performance and financial need.
