Riverside, Calif., March, 2001-- Roll the suitcase out from under the bed. Buff up those walking muscles, and take your camera and notepad.

La Sierra University offers tours of South America, South Africa, Great Britain, the Middle East, and Mediterranean countries in the summer and fall of 2001. And you should go along for the fun, education, and camaraderie. Academic credit is available for all tours.

(Depending on how these tours or classes relate to your profession or education, part of the costs of tuition or transportation may be tax deductible. Please consult with your tax adviser.)

South America: La Sierra University’s Stahl Center for World Service is sponsoring a March 21-30, 2001, study tour of the Andes and Amazon of Peru. The study tour group will visit Lima, experience Cusco, sail Lake Titicaca, trek the Inca trail, cruise the Amazon, and visit Clinica Ana Stahl and Colegio Fernando Stahl. South Africa: The Stahl Center for World Service is offering a September 2-18, 2001, study tour of South Africa. The tour package includes: tours of Cape of Good Hope, Nelson Mandela’s prison cell, the garden route, Zululand, Maluti Mission Hospital and Helderberg College, and a safari in Kruger National Park. The tour package for the Andes and Amazon is $2490. The tour package for South Africa is $3490. For more information, please call the Stahl Center at (909) 785-2041.

Great Britain: The English department and School of Religion are co-sponsoring a June 18 - July 3, 2001, Celtic Britain tour. The group will visit southwestern England, Wales, Ireland, and Scotland, touring Celtic and Roman archaeological sites, cathedrals, museums, abbeys, and castles. The itinerary includes stops at Cerne Abbas, Bath, Old Sarum, Stonehenge, Rollright Stones, and Tintagel, just in the first three days! According to tour directors/professors John Jones and Dorothy Comm, the group will visit historic sites of the First Millennium, following the steps of Celtic saints as they Christianized pagan Britain. Middle East: The School of Religion is sponsoring a July 25-August 9, 2001, study tour of Israel, Jordan, and Egypt. Follow the footsteps of Jesus in the Holy Land, visit Petra and Jerash, explore the Valley of the Kings, and visit Giza as you study biblical archaeology and New Testament gospels. Mediterranean countries: The School of Religion is also offering an August 9-27, 2001 Mediterranean study tour. See the spread of Christianity through Greece, the Greek Islands, Turkey, and then wonder at the impact of Christianity in Rome, Florence, and Sienna in Italy.
