Riverside, Calif., January, 2001-- In just three hours, donors contributed over $95,000 to La Sierra Universityâs Advancement department. In the week before Christmas, one donor presented a $75,000 check, and several others contributed heavily to the support of endowments and student scholarships at La Sierra. Before the year ended, the giving spree topped $95,000.

Says Candace Jorgenson, alumni relations director, "I had an alumnus walk into my office, hand me an envelope, and say that he wanted to make another gift to his class fund. After he left I opened the envelope, and it was a check for $10,000. Wow, am I glad I was here!" In the last fiscal year, July 1999 through June 2000, contributions to La Sierra were up by 105 percent, to more than $5.3 million.
