Alumni Homecoming set for La Sierra, Mar. 8-11

Riverside, Calif., January, 2001-- Alumni Homecoming for La Sierra University will feature speakers, a banquet and fellowship meals, a computing lab, several concerts, a Shakespeare play, and the opportunity to paint tiles for the Path of the Just. Some events require preregistration.

A special invitation is extended to Honor Classes of 1991, 1976, 1971, 1961, 1951, 1941, 1931, and all graduates of 50-or-more-years ago. For more information about the weekend events, call 909-785-2578.

Former student missionaries are invited to a reunion on Sabbath, March 10, as part of La Sierra's Homecoming weekend. Student missionaries will be featured in Sabbath school, and have a reunion area at the potluck following church service. For more information, call 909-785-2021.

Music of Wayne Hooper, La Sierra University alumnus, will be featured at a concert Sabbath, March 10, 3:30 p.m. at the La Sierra Univ. Church. Various university music ensembles, in addition to the congregation, will sing some of Hooperâs best loved melodies from the past.

The 42nd Annual Concerto program will be Saturday, March 10, 8 pm in Hole Memorial Auditorium. Held in conjunction with Alumni Weekend, this concert features outstanding student soloists performing with the University's Sinfonia. Free admission.

Wind Ensemble of La Sierra University, under the direction of Barbara Favorito, will give a sacred music concert on Fri., March 9, 7:30 p.m. in Hole Memorial Auditorium. A freewill offering will be taken to assist the Ensemble in their musical ministry.

March 9, 8:30 am: Aquarium of the Pacific/Long Beach outing,
1:00 pm: "Internet 101: Introduction to e-mail, surfing the net," computing lab;
3:30 pm: Psychology Department Honored Alumnus address: Curtis Hardin;
7:30 pm: Wind Ensemble concert.
March 10, 9:25 am: Mission Pageant featuring student missionaries, current and former missionaries with host Bill Loveless, LSU Church;
10:50 am: church service, Louis Venden;
12:30 pm: Fellowship potluck, Dining Commons, bring a salad, all else provided;
2:30 pm: Organ concert featuring Kimo Smith, LSU Church;
3:30 pm: Wayne Hooper Musical Tribute, LSU Church;
5:00 pm: class reunions, Dining Commons and Alumni Center;
6:00 pm: English and Communication Alumni Reception;
8:00 pm: Concerto program, La Sierra Sinfonia, HMA;
8:00 pm: "Taming of the Shrew" play, Matheson Chapel. March 11,
8:30 - 9:30 am: Pancake Breakfast, Campus Mall;
9:00 - Noon Tile Painting for Path of the Just, Campus Mall;
9:30 am: Land development update, Derrill Yaeger and Larry Geraty, Cactus Room;
11:30 - 1:30: Festival of Food, lunch sponsored by the student missionary program, Campus Mall;
2:00 & 8:00 pm: "Taming of the Shrew" play, Matheson Chapel.
