The new vice president for Advancement, Jeffry Kaatz, DMA, professor of music and assistant vice president for academic administration at La Sierra, is a 1981 alumnus. His appointment was confirmed by the Board of Trustees on March 22, 2001.

President Geraty said that in the search committee's recommendation to him of Jeffry Kaatz for VPA, they mentioned his notable history with La Sierra that includes success in fundraising and friend-making for departmental development and advancement. They felt that he was not only capable of doing the job but that he would bring a high level of enthusiasm to the position.

Geraty says, "That is already evident as Dr. Kaatz has taken hold, and begun his work. I look forward to working with him."

Carol Ann Bradfield, director of development in the School of Engineering at Northern Arizona University, has accepted the position of associate vice president for Advancement at La Sierra. She will oversee administrative details of development, events planning, gift records, and corporate foundations. Ms. Bradfield is pursuing a doctorate in leadership at Andrews University.

"Ms. Bradfield is a great complement to Dr. Kaatz," said Geraty. "She is skilled in planning, evaluating and listening, able to guide, support, collaborate and instruct. Her experience in creating, developing and implementing programs is just what La Sierra needs now."
