Riverside, Calif., October, 2000-- La Sierra University has been honored by the Riverside County Transportation Commission (RCTC) with the Employer Partnership Award, presented to businesses which run outstanding ride-sharing programs to help reduce congestion on the County's freeways and highways and improve air quality.

In a letter to LSU President Lawrence T. Geraty, Ken Calvert, United States Congressman of California's 43rd District, applauded La Sierra for its "involvement and for allowing these support services, like the Advantage Rideshare, Club Ride, Commuter Exchange and Inland Empire Commuter Services Programs, assist your employees whose actions are helping to make a difference in the quality of life within Riverside County.

"Congratulations on receiving this distinguished award," wrote Congressman Calvert.

Director of LSU Security Doug Nophsker commented, "We're happy to have received this award, and we are thankful for all the University employees who helped to improve our air quality by cooperating in ride-sharing and carpooling. They share in this award."

The RCTC award, a glass trophy, is on display in the Security Department. The engraving reads, "2000 Employer Partnership Award, presented to La Sierra University for outstanding achievement in commuter assistance. Riverside County Transportation Commission."
