Riverside, Calif., October 5, 2000-- La Sierra University's English department and School of Religion are co-sponsoring a June 18 - July 3, 2001 Celtic Britain tour. The study tour group will visit southwestern England, Wales, Ireland, and Scotland, touring Celtic and Roman archaeological sites, cathedrals, museums, abbeys, and a castle or two. According to tour directors Dr. John Jones, dean of the School of Religion, and Dr. Dorothy Minchin-Comm, professor of English, the group will visit the beautiful and historic sites of First Millennium Britain, focusing on a time when Ireland sent out a fire illuminating the Dark Ages with Christian zeal. The profound spirituality exhibited by Saints Patrick, David, Kevin, Brendan, and other Christian missionaries to pagan Britain, will speak to you across the centuries. Jones and Comm are world travelers, with many years of Adventist mission service and higher-education teaching experience. Lectures and discussions will be alive with humor and color. Although not a requirement, La Sierra University academic credit is available in either religion ("The Story of Christianity" or "Christianity and Culture") or English ("Major British Movements"). Adventist educational system employees may be eligible for tuition benefits through their employer. Some expenses of the study tour may be tax deductible, but you should consult with your tax advisor. The basic Celtic Britain 2001 tour package is $2295 from JFK or $2495 from LAX. Reservations will be accepted on a first-come, first-served basis. A $200 deposit is due Nov. 15, with the final payment due April 5, 2001.
