Riverside, Calif., November, 2000 -- Ottilia "Mimi" B. Walcker, wife of former professor at La Sierra University, Jake Walcker died on Sunday morning November 5, 2000. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 PM this Friday, November 10 at the La Sierra University Seventh-day Adventist Church. She succumbed to complications after surgery at Loma Linda University Medical Center. Mrs. Walcker was born in Bowdell, North Dakota and lived in Riverside since 1962. She was the dining commons hostess at La Sierra University for 34 years, retiring at the age of 86, one of the oldest employees at the University. She sponsored student clubs and made a home for over 20 college and university students during her years there. She was an active member of the La Sierra University church, Volunteering at the Community Service Center, where she assisted in the food and clothing ministry. Prior to her years in California, she lived in Walla Walla, Washington, where she was also active in providing services to students there. She is survived by a daughter, Judith Gillespie, a Son, Lon Walcker, both of Riverside; grandchildren Shannon Quishenberry of Rim Forest; Timothy Gillespie of La Mesa; Andrew Walcker of Riversideall alumni of La Sierra University; and 2 great-grandchildren, Collin Walcker and Bailey Quishenberry. She is also survived by 2 brothers, Reinhold R. Bietz of Vancouver, Washington; Arthur Bietz of Glendale; and a sister, Viola Bieber of Walla Walla, Washington. The family suggests memorial contributions in lieu of flowers to the John Hancock Center for Youth and Family Ministry at La Sierra University. 4700 Pierce St., Riverside, CA 92515 |
