Riverside, Calif., November, 2000-- The School of Business and Management of La Sierra University launches its first Student Enterprises, Inc. incubated company-Adventist Mall. Adventist Mall's B2M (Business-to-Ministries) model aims to help ministries become self-sufficient, secure additional funding, and support and spawn other ministries by providing the necessary online fundraising and networking tools. To accomplish this, Adventist Mall provides any ministry-church, business, individual, or independent-with a free e-commerce site and a connection to its Ministry Development Center. Each e-commerce site is supplied with thousands of Christian and commercial products by three affiliates--Healthy Drug Store, 2HQ, and Worthy.net. Healthy Drug Store provides vitamins, herbs, and dietary supplements; 2HQ has everything from computers to office supplies to sheet music; Worthy.net supplies Christian books, music, and videos. Profits on these e-commerce products are split three ways: the ministry keeps a third of the profits, Adventist Mall keeps a third for its operational costs, and the remaining third is split with Adventist Mall's partners. "The free e-commerce site is only the first step," Roger Rustad says. "We hope to eventually create a thriving Adventist-to-Adventist network." Added Leslie Camacho, "In other words, something that connects your ministry to real solutions, not hyperlinks." The Adventist Mall business newsletter, The Adventure, does this by spotlighting up-and-coming ministries and showing how others can get involved. Visitors of Adventist Mall can then utilize the Ministry Development Center's communication tools for exchanging ministry ideas and solutions. Adventist Mall's management team is made of three La Sierra University alumni and student missionaries-Rob Holland, Roger Rustad, and Leslie Camacho-who have a passion for the Gospel and ministry. Their hope is that Adventist Mall is the first step in creating a nexus where Seventh-day Adventist ministries unite, exchange ideas, fellowship, and implement new projects.
