Riverside, Calif., March, 2000--The La Sierra University chapter of Students in Free Enterprise (SIFE) has announced this year's presentation team.

Presentation team members are Ivan Glaze, a master's of business administration graduate student; Luke Robinson, a senior accounting major; Geovanney Vielmann, a senior French and international management and marketing major; Felipe Vielmann, a senior religious studies major; and Shannon Wilkins, a junior biology major. The alternate presenter is Leslie Lardizibal, a freshman marketing major. Members auditioned for the team and were selected by administrators in the School of Business and Management.

"These members are the heart and soul of SIFE. They are our workers and our leaders," said Heather Miller, SIFE faculty fellow and director of special projects for the School of Business and Management. "Our job is to meld their different strengths into a unified team with a strong message."

This year's SIFE technical team members are Jeremy Ramos, a freshmen graphic design major; Ari Salgueiro, a senior graphic design major; and Natan Vigna, a master's of business administration graduate student. The technical team produces a multimedia program that compliments the team presentation and ensures this audio-visual element is delivered without technical problems.

The SIFE presentation team is currently developing its presentation for the SIFE regional competition to be held in Long Beach on April 18. During the competition the team will deliver a 24-minute presentation outlining the education and community-service activities of the La Sierra SIFE chapter. The strength of the presentation, which is judged by a panel of business leaders, will determine whether the La Sierra team will advance to the international SIFE competition to be held May 21 to 23 in Kansas City.

Miller stressed that scores of students have contributed countless hours to the community service projects which will be outlined in the La Sierra SIFE presentation. "The presentation and technical teams are the most visible part of SIFE, but we are standing on the shoulders of so many dedicated students. They deserve credit, too," she said. During the 1990s, La Sierra SIFE teams enjoyed a string of unprecedented success, including being named international champions in 1994, 1995, 1996 and 1997.

"We have an incredible legacy to live up to, but I'm confident that the projects we've accomplished and the team we've assembled have what it takes to bring La Sierra back to the level we've competed on in the past," Miller said.
