University, Church Celebrate Creation On Special Sabbath

RIVERSIDE, Calif. – (www.lasierra.edu) The La Sierra University Church and La Sierra University are joining together to celebrate a special day of services focusing on Creation. The day-long series of events takes place October 24, 2009.

“In Endless Celebration of Creation is the theme for the church worship service, and features a sermon by Pastor Chris Oberg. Other participants will include La Sierra University biology faculty. The worship service begins at 10:45 am in the La Sierra University church sanctuary. Visitors to the church service will also be able to enjoy a petting zoo outside the sanctuary during the morning.

La Sierra University’s World Museum of Natural History will be open Saturday afternoon from 2-5 pm. Visitors will be able to view striking examples of God’s creative power on the earth through the hundreds of animal and mineral items displayed there. The museum is located in Cossentine Hall on the La Sierra University campus.

The day concludes with special Saturday night hours for the La Sierra University’s Frances E. Barnard Memorial Observatory, where visitors can view God’s creative power in the heavens. Open from 7:30 to 10 pm, the observatory is located on the hill behind the Visual Art Center. A campus map and driving directions can be found at http://lasierra.edu/index.php?id=981.
