Encyclopaedia Britannica Online The Encyclopaedia Britannica has a long reputation as a comprehensive reference work, covering most fields of human knowledge. The online version includes the complete encyclopedia, as well as Merriam-Webster's Collegiate Dictionary and the Britannica Book of the Year. There are more than 72,000 articles, with more than 10,000 illustrations (including photographs, drawings, maps, and flags).
