Circulation DeskThe Circulation Desk is responsible for checking in and out books, maintaining the bookshelves, and directing patrons to the correct locations. A list of circulation policies about borrowing and fines is available. The Circulation Desk is located on the second floor, just to the left as you enter the library. At this desk you will find maps of the library, showing book locations by call number and by subject; handouts explaining our circulation and lending policies; and handouts with our Library hours. Just walk right up and ask our desk worker for any of these items or for any other assistance you might need. If they cannot help you, they will know how to direct you.
Library CardsLibrary cards are required to check materials out of the library. A current university ID card is used as the library card for the students, faculty, and staff of La Sierra University. We also accept ID cards from professors from universities within the Inland Empire. The following library cards are available to you, at the Circulation Desk, if you are not a La Sierra University student, faculty, or staff member.
ReservesReserves are library books, personal books, and photocopies that professors place at the Circulation Desk to be checked out to students for limited periods of time. These time periods are 2- hour, 1- day, and 3-day, and 7- day. Hefty late fines are attached to Reserve materials that are returned late.To place materials on reserve professors are required to fill out a reserve request form located at the Circulation Desk, or request with our online form. The form is then to be turned in with the materials to be placed on reserve. A 48 hour processing time is required before material will be ready to circulate. We request that assignments from these materials not be given out until we have had time to do the processing.
SupervisorSandra Hartson is the supervisor of the Circulation Desk. She is available for questions regarding lost books, fines, library fees, books you cannot find on the shelves, library policies, and hiring of student employees. You can e-mail her or telephone.
