Global Studies Outcomes & Career Options
The Global Studies degree prepares students for graduate study in international studies, world affairs, policy studies, or cross-cultural studies, for professional study in law, or for service in governmental and non-governmental organizations; gives students a solid liberal arts background for positions that involve decision-making in a changing world; and draws on contemporary global trends as its organizing theme, and is distinctive in its comprehensive embrace of biological, cultural, economic, political, and social processes that render the contemporary world a seamless web.
Educational Qualifications
A bachelor’s degree in Global Studies qualifies students for entry-level positions such as research assistants for research organizations, political campaigns, nonprofit organizations, or government agencies. Jobseekers who have earned a bachelor’s degree can benefit from internships or volunteer work. Many go into fields outside of politics and policymaking, such as business or law, which may require additional education or licensure.
Job Outlook
Employment of political scientists is projected to decline 2 percent from 2014 to 2024.
