La Sierra University web domain information
La Sierra University got its "web feet" wet back in the
early 90s with its very first web site. At the time, as with most
other University web sites, La Sierra did not have a webmaster. As a matter
of fact, the whole concept of a webmaster was still being defined and developed
by the still preadolescent web community.
The La Sierra web site progressed from its early beginnings to
a much grander scale in January of 1998 after a plan was set in
motion to "upgrade" the web site. The site was redesigned
and re-engineered by a team from The Phelps Group of Santa Monica,
CA. A full-time webmaster was hired in July of 1998, and the new
site was up and running before the fall of 1998.
By the fall of 1999, with the growing and ever-changing needs of
La Sierra and the rapid advancement of the world wide web, it was
decided that the web site again needed to be redesigned and re-engineered.
On average, web sites are redesigned every two years; so by the
time this latest revision of the web site came to full fruition
it had been close to two years since the last "version"
had been released.
The third version of "the site" officially went live
at about 4:00pm PST on Monday, July 17, 2000. So that puts us where
we are now, at the fourth version of the Matrix, err, website. The
fourth version was launched (officially), at about 10am PST, Thursday,
November 6, 2003. We say officially because this version was trickled
in, so to speak, over several days, while the updated home page
itself was launched on 11/06/2003.
What's to come in the future? We're still working on a campus intranet,
and a host of other useful features.
Please read our information here on La Sierra University websites if you
have questions about which web domains we own or use.
If you have any questions, comments, or suggestions about the web
site, please don't hesitate to send them to us at webmaster@lasierra.edu.
We welcome your responses as we work to improve the site.
