Our Climate

An hour from mountains, beaches, deserts and the cultural attractions of Los Angeles, La Sierra University hosts beautiful buildings, wide grassy spaces and tall, green trees. You will find more than 130 species of trees, plants and flowers on our campus.

At La Sierra, learning is not limited to the classroom. International students make practical use of their English language skills and develop a sense of community through on-campus activities and numerous off-campus field trips. Informal get-togethers are popular on campus, while off-campus trips include professional baseball games, bowling, miniature gold, ice skating and skiing or snowboarding.

Our climate
Our semi-desert climate is known for its healthful qualities. The average high temperature in the summer is 84 F (29 C), perfect for any outdoor sports. In winter, the temperatures usually range from 67 F to 48 F (19 C-9 C). Besides mild temperature, our winters offer clear days with views of snow-capped mountains, palm trees and green valleys. Though summer days are often hot and dry, the evenings are usually comfortably cool. We suggest you bring summer clothes, an all-weather jacket and a sweater so that you're prepared for outdoor activities in all seasons.
