Congratulations on taking the first step! I am excited about the possibility of having you join us on the road to completion of your bachelor's degree. The Division of Continuing Studies is specifically designed for adult students. If you want to complete your degree but feel you do not have enough time or money, we have the solutions that may make the difference.

La Sierra University offers a flexible degree completion program in which you can move through the required courses as slowly or as quickly as your personal schedule allows, and you can modify your class schedule quarter to quarter. Each class typically meets one night a week from 6:30 p.m. - 9:50 p.m., Monday through Thursday, for ten weeks. We do not require you to attend classes on Fridays or on the weekends.

As you look through our website, keep in mind that the university's Liberal Arts, B.A., Social Work, B.S.W. faculty, staff, and administration are here to help you through this very important educational process. Many of you have been out of school for years and are naturally apprehensive about returning. One of the many benefits La Sierra University's Evening Adult Degree Program has to offer is its caring staff. We understand your fears and uncertainties, and we will help you through them. We're friendly! You will also attend class with a group of your peers in a comfortable setting with a student lounge located next to your classrooms. By the way, the average age of our current student population is 41, and our oldest graduate was 85!

Not surprisingly, most of our students do better now than they did when they previously attended college. As a returning student, most of you are more focused and understand that the cost of finishing your education is often more the the price of tuition. It takes drive and dedication to attend college after a day at work. For those of you with children or who are single parents, while we may not be able to provide you with a sitter, we can provide you with free telephone calls so that you can check up on your family while you are in class. It's a small thing, but it's the small things that make us so popular with our students.

We look forward to seeing you soon. Should you have any questions about our program, please fell free to contact me at (951) 785-2300, or reach our office by Fax at (951) 785- 2301 or by e-mail at eadp@lasierra.edu. We really are here to help you!

Nancy Dittemore, M.A.
Director, Division of Continuing Studies
