Instructions for Proposal (conceptual) The conceptual components of the proposal should not exceed 5 single-spaced pages, using the font size of 11 or 12. As much as possible, make the language of the proposal such that the committee members can understand it. 1. Introduction (1/2 - 1 page): background information, statement of the problem, objectives, significance, and scope. 2. Literature Review (1 - 2 pages): review and summary of the related literatures and its relevance to the proposed project. This may not be applicable to an exploratory or pilot study. 3. Hypothesis or Outcome (1/2 page): brief statement of anticipation or outcome of the research project. 4. Research Methods or Approach (1/2 page): description of information gathering and the analysis of gathered information; other procedures and resources to be used in the project. 5. Bibliography (1 page): a selective bibliography, listing the most recent and significant titles. Instructions for Research Budget1. The total of the requested amount should not exceed 2,800 dollars. 2. The itemized budget includes only the projected costs directly related to the conducting of the proposed research project. 3. University Research Funds do not support load reduction (time release), attendance at conventions, presentation, or publication of the research findings. 4. The awarded amount may be advanced in April of the following year. 5. Any unused amount by the end (June 30) of the grant year will revert to the University Research Funds. The committee, however, may consider extension for spending under justifiable circumstances. 6. The recipients may apply for continuous funding support for the same project approved in the previous year. The committee reviews and decides on such requests on a competitive basis. 7. If a recipient applied to other funding sources and received an award for the same project, the committee may decide on the unused portion of the LSU funds. 8. The recipients are expected to submit a complete research expense report to the Office of Graduate Studies and Research by the end of the grant year for which the fund was awarded.
