Missions

To inspire, prepare and send willing students of this and other campuses out into to the world to serve as Student Missionaries to our brothers and sisters in other countries, preparing them for Jesus' soon return.

Students at La Sierra University are encouraged to explore the world while reaching out to those in need through student missionary trips. There are many exciting mission trips available throughout the year. Students have the option to go on short term trips which typically last only a few weeks, as well as long term trips which may last a quarter or longer.


Short Term Missions

The Short-term Missions Department of La Sierra University feels it is essential to the educational and spiritual process to provide opportunities and environments for life changing experiences. By creating spaces and places in time to selflessly step outside ourselves and our own needs to address the needs of a community, we not only find a deeper understanding of what it means to be human, but also what it means to be Christian. If the core of Christianity is attempting to emulate a life of Christ, then it is only through selfless sharing of ones time and energy, giving life and happiness to another, that we truly encounter the essence of Christ and his teachings. Therefore, the experience of mission service is something that will benefit every one of us.

In the past there have been many fun and exciting short term mission trips that students at LSU have gone on. Many of our students have recently gone to New Orleans to help with the the hurricane relief by tearing down condemned homes and helping those in need.

Long Term Missions

Many students every year take the leap and go on fun and exciting mission trips around the world to learn what cannot be learned in a classroom. Students travel around the world furthering the work of Christ on earth. Students share God's love through the service of missionaries.

Students are encouraged to becoming a missionary to spread God's love across the world. Some recent student missionaries have traveled to Africa, India, Majuro, and Pohnpei.
