Internet
All rooms have been wired for Internet access.
Becoming Ethernet Ready. Before your computer can connect to the Inernet, there are a few simple things you need to do.

   1) Your computer porbably came with a built-in Ethernet Card... if so, simply plug in

an Ethernet cable into the Ethernet port on your computer and plug the other end of the

cable into the Ethernet port located in your dorm room. If your computer already has

an Ethernet card skip to step 6, if not go to step 2.

   2) Get an Ethernet Card. If your computer already has an Ethernet card, then great, you

can go to step 3. If not, then you will need to go to your local electronics store (Best

Buy, etc...) and buy Ethernet card. Make sure you have expansion slot available in

your computer before you purchase the card. If you have any questions, please

       consult your manual.

   3) Get an Ethernet cable. In order to connect your computer (and Ethernet card) to the

internet, you will need to plug in an Ethernet cable into your card and also into the

Ethernet port in your room. You can purchase this cable at the same time you buy your

       card.

   4) Now that you have your Ethernet card and cable, its time to install them into your

       computer:

      • First turn off and unplug your computer and any peripheral devices, such as a printer.

      • Remove the computer's cover. If you have questions, check with your users manual.

      • Unscrew and remove the solid protection plate at the back of any free expansion slot.

      • Insert Ethernet card firmly into expansion slot. (Do not force- apply gentle pressure.)

      • Tighten screw on protection plate, reattach case, and attach components.

      • Plug Ethernet cable into back of Ethernet card and into Ethernet port located in your

        room.

   5) Next you will need to install the drivers for your Ethernet card:

      • Turn on your computer.

      • Windows should detect a new card and prompt you to insert driver cd. (If Windows

does not detect your network card, consult your nretwork card documentation.)

      • Reboot computer.

   6) Test your network.

      • Reboot your network.

      • Select the Start Menu and click Run.

      • Open up your web browser, if your computer is working properly you should see the

LSU "Network Authentication" page. You will be prompted to login to the network using

In order to provide students with timely and quality assistance, hall staff are required to follow standardized procedures whenever a student alludes to or engages in self-destructive or disruptive behaviors. These behaviors. include but are not limited to remark about suicide, threats of suicide gestures or attempts, etc. All situations in which potential suicide may be a a factor will be reported by residential life staff so that arrangements for psychological help can be made. Similar behavior which disrupts the residence hall community may result in disciplinary action and/or removal from the residence halls.

Should a student refuse to consult with the La Sierra University Counseling Center once an appointment has deemed necessary, the Office of Residential Life may take action that will affect residential status of the student.
