LSU Attains Carnegie Classification for Engagement
La Sierra University is one of two inland schools to land on a national list of institutions deemed exemplary in their efforts to work with and aid communities in mutually beneficial ways.
The Carnegie Foundation for the Advancement of Teaching released its 2008 Community Engagement Classification lists Dec. 18. The roster consists of 119 colleges and universities around the United States whose applications met rigorous selection criteria and passed the scrutiny of the foundation. The Carnegie Foundation, an independent policy and research center, sets the industry standard for American higher education. It creates classifications of universities and colleges and produces data used by U.S. News and World Report, The Chronicle of Higher Education and other mainstream organizations.
The foundation created its 2008 community engagement classification of schools based on applications and documentation substantiating the extent of educational institutions’ community engagement at local, regional, national or international levels. (Read more...)
