MISSION STATEMENT

The Office of Institutional Effectiveness, a component of the Provost’s Office, supports the mission of La Sierra University by:

• gathering, maintaining, analyzing and disseminating timely institutional information to support planning, assessment, enrollment management, budget development and decision-making;
• responding to requests for institutional data made by internal and external entities, organizations and accrediting bodies;
• providing assistance to schools, departments, faculty, and other units of the university in the identification of appropriate information pertinent to measuring programmatic outcomes;
• acting as the central repository of assessment information as well as the distribution point for those assessment activities conducted at the university level;
• facilitating, assisting and coordinating institutional assessment and incorporating the results into the planning processes;
• providing direction and advice to campus entities in matters such as instrument selection and design, establishment of effectiveness measures for testing, development of techniques and requirements for verification of effectiveness, and specification of standards for technical documentation;
• assisting the Provost and the University Assessment Committee to develop and maintain an appropriate assessment cycle;
• supporting, facilitating and coordinating special research projects related to assessment and to student learning;
• preparing and disseminating internal and external reports of assessment findings;
• assisting in accreditation activities and institutional reporting obligations;
• working closely with Computer and Information Services to develop and improve appropriate systems and interfaces to gather, process and disseminate timely institutional data and assessment information.
