Fall 2006

  • Plan on attending the annual Candlelight concert to be held on Friday, December 1 at 7:30PM at the La Sierra University Church. Come and hear students, ensembles, and faculty in this beautiful Christmas tradition! To see other events, visit our calendar page.

  • 2006 Choral Festival – Dr. Jackson, clinician
    The biannual choral festival for academies was held from October 11-14, 2006. Close to 200 young academy students from Arizona, San Diego, Los Angeles and vicinity schools participated. The successful festival culminated with a beautiful Vespers on Sabbath, October 14, at 4 PM. It was especially wonderful to see so many of our alumni as directors of area academies!

Summer 2006

  • The Music Department had 6 students who were invited to attend international festivals this summer. Pianists Jed de la Paz, Julia Park, Phillip Pitcher and Christine Choi, and saxophonist Andrew Harrison attended the Ameropa 2006 International Music Festival held in Prague, Czechoslovakia. Clarissa Shan, soprano, was invited to attend the Rome Music Festival.

Alumni News

Fall 2006

  • Music Department Alumnus, Abe Fabella, M.A., will be presenting a recital on November 5, 2006.

  • La Sierra University alumna, Kimberly Sogioka, after successfully completing her M.Mus. degree  in vocal performance from the Manhattan School of Music,  and after serving as administrative assistant to the Office of Advancement, has been hired as the new Alumni Director for La Sierra University. Spring 2006

  • La Sierra University alumna, Grace Chung, successfully completed her M.Mus. degree from the Manhattan School of Music conservatory in New York. She studied piano with Dr. Mark Silverman, chair of the keyboard department.  This year Ms. Chung is joining the Music Department as Outreach and Performance Coordinator.
