Professional Interests:
Dr Clarke has been teaching at La Sierra since 1986. He earned his bachelor’s degree in mathematics from Andrews University in Michigan and his doctorate in mathematics from the University of Iowa. His doctorate was in knot theory, three-manifolds and algebraic topology.

Activities:
He spent nine years teaching in Africa. He is also interested in mathematics education reform and mathematics history. Other interests include travel, wildlife, amateur astronomy, bouldering, and stamp collecting. He is the president of the Riverside Stamp Club and also of the local chapter of the Helderberg College alumni association. Please see his web-page for more details.
