The Department of Mathematics is made up of a diverse group of faculty, students, and graduates. Our faculty possess many mathematical interests including algebra, education, foundations and logic, functional analysis, mathematical modeling, numerical analysis, statistics and topology. Their professional activities have included publishing in international mathematical journals, presenting at national and international mathematics conferences, authoring books at the university level, statistical consulting, and participating in interdisciplinary scientific research in diverse locations such as Churchill, Manitoba and the Galapagos Islands.
Our students participate in a wide variety of cultural, recreational and professional activities. Mathematics and Bio-Mathematics majors have taken advantage of a variety of internships in local businesses, as well as various employment opportunities on campus. The Mathematics and Computing Club hosts various social, recreational, and educational activities.
Graduates from our Mathematics and Biomathematics program work and study in fields as varied as dentists, oral pathologists, psychiatrists, ER and ENT physicians, college math professors, high school math teachers, forensic psychologists, lawyers, IT specialists, IT managers, and as graduate students.
La Sierra University’s location in Southern California enables its students to participate in a wide variety of cultural, recreational and professional activities.
