collaboratives continue dr. Morales-Gudmundsson, chair, continues conversations with various campus entities to broaden the outreach and impact of the foreign language program at LSU. early this school year, she discussed the possibility of a language/business internship in Costa Rica with John Thomas, Dean of the School of Business, and Prof. Monte Andress, --, whereby LSU business students will take Spanish courses on campus and at the Universidad Adventista de Costa Rica (UNADECA) while engaged in a business internship at one of the many international corporations in the capital of San Jose. The success of this project will depend on many factors that are being studied at the moment. another direction in which the department is moving is the addition of languages. Prof. Morales is currently involved in a collaborative grant-writing project with the newly established Institute for Cultural Exchange (sponsored by the History and Political Science/Sociology Department) to set up an Asian Studies Program that will involve the addition of Chinese language study and the development of our existing Korean language program. The grant will be submitted in October of 2001 and will be co-written by Profs. Rennie Schoepflin and Morales. alumna gift increases department library the Dept of World Languages is proud to announce a library gift from Carol I. Dunn.
