What is J2RE?

J2RE stands for Java 2 Runtime Environment, developed by Sun Microsystem, is a java ‘plug-in’ which allows end-users to run Java applications. In our setting, J2RE is used for connectivity between a Windows-based client using web browser and Oracle Application Forms.  It must be downloaded and installed in client machine in order to access Banner through web browser. Unless you have trouble login Banner 7, it is a one-time installation process.

What version of Java Runtime (J2RE) is required to run Internet Native Banner 7?

LSU INB 7 recommended j2re-1_4_2_06.
